There’s More Than One Way to Have a Happy Ending! 😉
What do sex, PAD, and inhaled insulin have in common? They all share a common problem - they’re not talked about enough in diabetes care.
PAD is a serious condition you may never have heard of - even if you have it. Using inhaled insulin with pumps isn’t talked about much either because it’s not FDA-approved, but Jeremy and I use it all the time (don’t tell the FDA!). Last but not least…sex! Everyone wants it, but no one wants to talk about it if their plumbing isn’t working right.
So we’re bringing these issues into the spotlight because when things aren’t flowing the way they should, ignoring them rarely leads to a happy ending!

Sex | Complications
Yes, you read that right…you, your partner, and diabetes can have a good time in the bedroom despite diabetes’ natural tendency to ruin the mood. While diabetes can mess with sexual function in both men and women, many issues are treatable or manageable. So let’s take a peek under the sheets and talk about what’s killing the vibe so you can get back to getting busy.

Inhaled Insulin | Technology
Although Afrezza isn’t officially approved for use with AID systems, Dr. Edelman and Dr. Pettus use it all the time, and they prescribe it to many of their patients who are on pumps. Learn how inhaled insulin can be a complement to AID systems, when it works best, and when you need to be cautious.

Circulation | Complications
Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD) used to be thought of as an "older man’s disease," but it can actually affect both men and women, and people with diabetes are at higher risk. PAD often has no symptoms in the early stages, so catching it early is key to preventing serious complications.

Two New twiists for Diabetes Tech
|
Diabetes News | Technology
It’s official: the Eversense 365 implantable CGM is now compatible with Sequel’s twiist AID system. The collaboration, first announced in April 2025, has officially moved into commercial launch, making twiist the first AID system to pair with Eversense’s one-year CGM sensor. But that’s not all…Sequel has also announced a partnership with Diabeloop to integrate its algorithm into twiist, marking the first commercial use of the Diabeloop algorithm in a U.S. insulin pump system.

New and Improved Dosing Guidelines for Afrezza
|
Diabetes News | Inhaled Insulin
When Afrezza was first approved 10 years ago, the recommended conversion from injected (subcutaneous) insulin to inhaled insulin was really conservative – basically a 1-to-1 swap. Over time, however, people realized this ratio was too weak because it didn’t adequately control post-meal blood sugars. The INHALE-3 study re-examined the dosing strategy and found that higher doses of Afrezza work better. The new guidelines now recommend a ratio closer to 1-to-2, meaning for every 1 unit of subcutaneous insulin you take 2 units of Afrezza. Other studies suggest that some people may even need a 1-to-3 ratio, but starting at 1-to-2 is a big step forward and will help more people get better results with Afrezza.
