Dr. E shares how he and his endocrinology team diagnosed one of their T1D patients with the condition.

FDA Clears Wegovy to Treat MASH

Wegovy just received approval to treat metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (otherwise known as MASH) - a serious liver condition that previously only had one FDA-approved treatment (Rezdiffra) in addition to the standard diet and lifestyle guidance.
Wegovy and Ozempic may sound like different medications, but they’re actually the same thing - semaglutide. When semaglutide was approved to treat type 2 diabetes it took on the name Ozempic, and it was later cleared to treat heart disease and kidney disease as well. When semaglutide was FDA-approved for obesity, it was branded as Wegovy.
The research pipeline for semaglutide isn’t slowing down - studies suggest it may also help with knee osteoarthritis and prediabetes. This drug just keeps adding to its résumé - who knows what’s next?
